Jose Mourinho's wish has been granted after Manchester United confirmed they have an agreement in place to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus.

The Red Devils have confirmed his sensational return following days of speculation; it looked for all the world that the 36-year-old was destined to link up with Pep Guardiola at rivals Manchester City.

But the Citizens pulled out of the deal at the last minute, leaving the gateway open for Ronaldo to retake his place at the Theatre of Dreams.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has been offered a two-year deal by former teammate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, subject to the finer details of the transfer being completed.

And one man who is extra happy about Ronaldo's Old Trafford reunion is former United manager Jose Mourinho.

The former Real Madrid boss joked on TalkSport last week that the former galactico needed to make his life easier by finding a new club away from Serie A:

"He should leave Italy now and leave me in peace!" said Mourinho.

Are you excited to see Ronaldo back in the Premier League? Let us know in the comments section.

"Everybody says, and I say the same, he is not 25 anymore. He is 36 and he doesn't score 50 goals, but how many did he score? The record is [still] incredible, the numbers speak by themselves."

"He is a legend, one of the big names that stays forever in football history, but the guy motivates himself with numbers and new things."

The current AS Roma boss is just one of many excited by the prospect of Ronaldo returning at Man Utd.
