Juventus are weighing up moves for four Manchester United players in the January transfer window, according to reports in Italy. Juve sold Cristiano Ronaldo to United in the summer and they could now use their links to Old Trafford to bolster their squad in the mid-season window.

Ronaldo’s departure from Turin was the major headline of the summer transfer window, with the Portuguese star returning to his former club.

His exit was always going to have an impact on Juve, but it has been felt more sharply than perhaps expected.

Juventus are eighth in Serie A, a whopping 14 points adrift of leaders Napoli, after winning just five of their opening 12 league matches.

One of the issues Max Allegri’s side have experienced is in attack, with 16 goals scored giving them a goal difference of plus one.

According to Calciomercato, the Italian giants are planning on rectifying this problem by moving for out-of-favour United attacker Anthony Martial.

Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata need back-up in attack and Martial is considered a good option to do that.

The 25-year-old has made just seven appearances so far this season, scoring once, with Ronaldo, Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Edinson Cavani preferred by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Although United would consider letting him leave, the report states they would want around £37million to £42m (€45-50m) for his signature, due in part to the Frenchman being under contract until June 2024.

Juve chairman Andrea Agnelli considers this a ‘reckless figure’ and would instead push for a one-and-a-half-year loan, which was free until June but would contain a clause allowing Juve to sign Martial permanently for £25m (€30m) in 2023.

Martial is paid £250,000 per week by United, as per Sky Sports, and the club could be tempted to get his wages off the books in January.

While he is the primary target for Juve, Calciomercato reports that the relationship between the two clubs could see further business done in the mid-season transfer window.

Paul Pogba is set to be out of contract in June and the Old Lady are interested in re-signing the French midfielder.

Pogba made his name at Juve, scoring 34 goals and contributing 40 assists in 178 games between 2012 and 2016, and could be tempted by a return.

Meanwhile, the uncertainty over Donny van de Beek’s future means Juve are keeping an eye on the Dutch midfielder.

Van de Beek has been frustrated by a lack of game time at United and is ready to push for a January departure if things don’t change.

Alex Telles is also mentioned in the report, with the left-back struggling for regular minutes behind Luke Shaw.

United’s transfer decisions in January will be shaped by the future of Solskjaer, who is under increasing pressure following a run of three wins in 10 games.
