Lionel Messi fans have hijacked Manchester United's Twitter account following a tweet about Cristiano Ronaldo on Wednesday evening.
United's social media account jumped on the latest 'red flag' trend, where an individual tweets a statement followed by a series of red flags to show they're wrong.
The Red Devils tweeted: "@Cristiano isn't the goat," to the delight of United fans.
But the tweet didn't go unnoticed by those who disagreed in the ongoing debate of who is greatest of all time, Messi or Ronaldo.
And Messi fans hit back with a series of Tweets towards the 'cringe' United social media post.
"Cringe, this isn’t close to what Barca used to do for Messi," one fan replied.
While another added: "Have some shame ffs, this is why OLE ain't winning any trophy."
"Stop stealing other people's titles and giving them to Ronaldo, everyone on the planet knows Messi's the GOAT so don't bother trying," a third tweeted.
A fourth said: "This shows what a joke ur club is nowadays. All you do is try to give Ronaldo Ballon d'Or."
However, United weren't the only team to jump onto the latest social media trend.
Manchester City waged in with: "@DeBruyneKev isn't the best player in the league."
While Leeds United tweeted: "England don't miss Kalvin Phillips."
Tottenham Hotspurs, Juventus, and Fantasy Premier League were all seen hoping on the trend alongside other sporting sides such as the Buffalo Bills in the USA.
Ronaldo has been nominated for the 2021 Ballon d'Or, and he could equal Messi's tally should he be victorious.
Messi currently has six Ballon d'Or titles to his name, while Ronaldo has one less with five.
