Liverpool and Manchester United may be forced to change their transfer plans with teenage wonderkid Youssoufa Moukoko insisting he would ‘love’ to stay at Borussia Dortmund. The striker is part of Germany’s World Cup squad but his contract at the Bundesliga side expires at the end of the season. He faces a big decision over his future but appears to be siding towards remaining at his current club.
Moukoko has attracted attention from some of the biggest clubs in Europe after an impressive start to the campaign with Dortmund. He has scored six goals in 23 games in all competitions after breaking into the first team on a more regular basis after making his debut as a 16-year-old in 2020.
He celebrated his 18th birthday earlier this week and is seen as one of the hottest young prospects in world football, His contract expires at the end of the season meaning he is free to start negotiating with foreign clubs when the transfer window opens in January, with United and Liverpool among the teams watching his situation closely according to 90min.
However, the forward’s recent comments suggest the Premier League giants could both face a difficult task to secure his signature as he stressed his love for his current team.

“I feel so comfortable at BVB, I love the club. I’d really love to stay at Borussia Dortmund”, he told RND when asked about his future. “I want to understand what kind of project and perspective the club will offer me, it’s an important point”.
The north-west rivals could both do with reinforcements in attacking areas, particularly the Red Devils given the recent departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. Moukoko would be considered a major coup to replace the Portugal captain, especially on a free transfer, and would help Erik ten Hag to bring down the age of his squad.
Ronaldo’s departure was announced on Tuesday with the 37-year-old leaving Old Trafford by mutual consent in the aftermath of his tell-all interview with Piers Morgan. The legendary forward released a statement following the decision being confirmed stressing his love for the club despite everything that had happened.

“Following conversations with Manchester United we have mutually agreed to end our contract early,” he wrote. “I love Manchester United and I love the fans, that will never ever change. However, it feels like the right time for me to seek a new challenge.
“I wish the team every success for the remainder of the season and for the future.”
It remains to be seen what steps Moukoko will look to take next in his career but it looks increasingly unlikely that he will make a move to the Premier League.
