Liverpool could sanction several first-team departures during the summer transfer window as they look to raise funds for a squad overhaul following their miserable 2020/21 campaign.

Although Jurgen Klopp could yet oversee a run of form that would see his side claim Champions League qualification for next season, their title is all but lost to Manchester City.

The German has blamed injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez as reasons for their struggles, but they do remain in contention for European glory ahead of their semi-final ties against Real Madrid.

Daily Star Sport have now taken a look at players who could be sold this summer in a bid to raise funds for incoming deals, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain one of those considered.

Naby Keita – £35m

Liverpool could cut their losses on Naby Keita this summer and recoup a large chunk of the £52m they paid RB Leipzig for his services back in the summer of 2018.

The 26-year-old has scored seven goals and laid on four assists across a total of 75 appearances under Klopp – poor numbers for their third most expensive player in history.

With his current deal running until the summer of 2023, Liverpool will be well placed to request a substantial fee should there be interest over the next few months.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – £35m

Another player who has been hit with injuries since joining Liverpool is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is no longer in the picture with England as he returns to the club fold.

The 27-year-old will be desperate to work his way back into Klopp’s starting XI as they struggle in the league, but could have his head turned by summer interest from elsewhere.

With his current contract running until 2023, Liverpool would have no issues in setting their asking price at the £35m that they paid Arsenal back in 2017.

  • Xherdan Shaqiri – £20m

Xherdan Shaqiri has tried and failed to secure a regular first-team spot under Klopp at Anfield as the former Borussia Dortmund boss sticks by Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

The arrival of Diogo Jota has seen the Switzerland star slip further down the pecking order, but his contract does run until 2023.

While he only cost the club £13.5m, they could bring in £20m for the 29-year-old this summer.

    Divock Origi – £15m

Despite his status as a fan favourite thanks to his Champions League heroics against Barcelona and Spurs in 2019, Divock Origi has never been a consistent starter under Klopp.

It is likely that the 25-year-old will be keen to find a regular berth either at Anfield or elsewhere, with his current deal running until 2024.

A fee of £15m would be a suitable fee for Liverpool to request should they want to boost their incoming budget, with a new striker set to be on their wish-list this summer.
