Liverpool fans booed every Chelsea player apart from Kepa before FA Cup final

Liverpool fans booed every Chelsea but one when the teams were read out at Wembley ahead of their FA Cup on Saturday.

Chelsea's Spanish shot-stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga was the only Blues man to avoid the jeers of the Merseyside faithful, according to AnfieldWatch. Kepa had been the only man to miss a spot-kick when the two sides had met in February for the Carabao Cup final.

Kepa picked the ball out of his net ten times before blazing his penalty over the bar to hand Liverpool the trophy. The Spaniard had been left on the bench in favour of Edouard Mendy, but he was brought on with penalties in mind.

Saturday's final was almost a carbon copy of February's, with no one able to find the net in the 90 minutes – and then again in extra time.

However, Kepa was left on the bench as the two sides lined up to take spot-kicks. Cesar Azpilicueta was first to miss, when he hit the post, before Sadio Mane squandered his chance to win Liverpool their first FA Cup since 2006.

However, it was Mason Mount's miss that proved decisive as Liverpool claimed the second, and final, domestic cup competition.

Thomas Tuchel had refused to rule out subbing off Mendy for Kepa ahead of the game.

He said: "I will not tell you. I have an opinion about it. If it comes, you will see.

“In approaching the match, we always say, ‘Let’s see how the game goes and if we still have the change available’.

“It is never done before. We have a plan of what we can do. I’m a bit torn in how much you can practice.”
