Liverpool midfielder Arthur Melo has been congratulated by the club’s coaching staff for understanding Jurgen Klopp’s system so quickly, according to reports. It is a major boost for Klopp that the Brazilian could now be available to start matches after adapting rapidly.
Liverpool signed Arthur on transfer deadline day due to the injury crisis they had in midfield. However, he has only made one substitute appearance to date, coming on in the 4-1 Champions League drubbing by Napoli.
New signings have often taken time to adapt to Klopp’s style of football. Andy Robertson and Fabinho in particular were not regulars during their first few months at Anfield.
Both Robertson and Fabinho have become key members for Klopp in recent seasons. But, according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague, Arthur has adapted quickly to Klopp’s methods.
Balague says members of the Reds’ coaching staff have praised the 26-year-old’s understanding of the system and also his quality as a player. He claims Arthur has not taken some days off as he attempts to catch up with the fitness demands Klopp insists on his players.
Arthur is not in the Brazil squad for the friendlies against Ghana and Tunisia. He is working on an individual programme to get him ready following the international break.
Liverpool are currently without Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain due to injury. So having Arthur ready for action would be a big boost to Klopp.
Speaking on Arthur earlier this month, Klopp insisted the loanee needs regular minutes. The German said: “Arthur needs now just football – and training, especially, that’s how it is.

“He wasn’t in team training for a while at Juve, so he needs proper team training – and that’s what we are doing with him. Can he play minutes? Yes. Should he play a full game? No, because he needs to get used to the intensity in each competition.
“It’s not like in the Champions League you have to work less than in the Premier League. Not at all.
“He is doing well, he is really giving his absolute all in training, we have to be careful with him as well and then we will see whether we can use him.”
Arthur could make his Premier League debut against Brighton on October 1. The Reds do not play this weekend after their match against Chelsea was postponed.
