Georginio Wijnaldum has broken his silence on speculation linking him with a move to Barcelona from Liverpool. The midfielder has just one year left on his contract with negotiations stalling over a new deal.
Liverpool will be reluctant to lose Wijnaldum for free next summer but his current contract impasse has led to uncertainty over his future with just over a week until the new season starts.
Wijnaldum has been a huge part of Liverpool’s success over the past 18 months and was Klopp’s most used midfielder in their title-winning campaign last year.
But the uncertainty around his future has also been linked with Liverpool’s reported interest in signing Thiago Alcantara.
Klopp already has an abundance of options in midfield with Wijnaldum, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho the preferred three last year.

Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Curtis Jones are all vying for spots in the starting line-up as well.
At least one player would almost certainly have to leave to make way for Thiago as well as being able to raise funds to sign the Bayern Munich star.
All reports have suggested the reigning Premier League champions are Thiago’s club of choice.

Bayern are said to be demanding £26million and Liverpool would likely need to fund that with players leaving the club.
It has been claimed that Barcelona are ready to offer £20m to sign Wijnaldum from Liverpool.
Both midfielders are currently on international duty though, with Wijnaldum with the Holland squad for their Nations League matches against Poland and Italy respectively.
And speaking at a press conference ahead of the first match against Poland, Wijnaldum was directly asked about the rumours linking him with a move to Barcelona.
The 29-year-old though refused to give anything away in his response.
“That’s a rumour, I can’t say more about it,” he said.
Ronald Koeman is said to be behind Barcelona’s push to sign Wijnaldum from Liverpool.
The new Barcelona boss is expected to make big changes at the Nou Camp this summer and he has a close working relationship with Wijnaldum from their time together with the national team.
