Liverpool transfers: Salah ‘wants Barcelona move’, Thiago contract agreed, second deal in

Liverpool have only made one transfer this summer but Jurgen Klopp could soon bring in reinforcements before the October 5 deadline. Express Sport will now take a look at the latest news and gossip coming out of Anfield.

Mohamed Salah wants Barcelona move

New Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman wants to make Mohamed Salah his blockbuster signing of the summer and the Liverpool forward is keen to move to the Nou Camp, according to football agent Sjaak Swart.

The Egyptian made a blistering start to the 2020/21 campaign by scoring a hat-trick in the 4-3 win over Leeds yesterday.

But his days at Anfield could be numbered as Barcelona are considering a swoop after going through their first trophyless season in 12 years.

Former Ajax player Swart, who also represents new Manchester United signing Donny van de Beek and is good friends with Koeman, has confirmed that a transfer could happen before the October 5 deadline.

“I know Koeman wants him – and I know Salah would like to go,” he told DAZN.

When asked of his source, Swart added: “I can’t.

“I am not going into any more details, but just believe me that I know.”

Thiago ‘agrees contract’

Former Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness reckons Thiago Alcantara may have already agreed personal terms with Manchester United or Liverpool.

Speaking to Sport1, Hoeness said: “It is a difficult situation. A while ago we agreed on a new four-year contract. Some days later he said: ‘I’m looking for a new challenge’. Which is totally okay.

“I think he obviously has an agreement with Liverpool or Manchester United or both of them. Now both clubs are bluffing, and no one has contacted Bayern Munich officially.

“From my point of view, that has no style. They’re trying to blackmail us, by waiting until the last week, when they’re going to make a cheap offer.”

Second deal close

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is close to agreeing on his second transfer of the summer following the arrival of Greek left-back Kostas Tsimikas.

Goalkeeper Alisson Becker has apparently played a role in convincing teenager Marcelo Pitaluga to complete a switch.

The Reds have been watching the Fluminense shot stopper since January, according to the Daily Mirror.

And a deal has apparently been struck worth £1.8million with a 25 per cent sell-on clause.

Liverpool told to copy Chelsea

Former Premier League defender Danny Mills thinks Liverpool should copy Chelsea’s big-spending tactic in this transfer window.

“Sometimes you have to buy players for the now. You cannot just keep stockpiling for the future,” he said.

“I think that’s what Chelsea have done, bringing in Thiago Silva at the back. You might only get two seasons out of him.

“What I would have liked to have happened [to Liverpool], I would like them to have freshened it up, got a few faces in.

“When you’re the current world champions, Premier League champions and until recently the European champions, you’d like to think the easy part would be attracting top players. I’m sure they’ve got the money.”
