Manchester United are reportedly lining up Aston Villa’s Tom Heaton as their back-up goalkeeper if David de Gea leaves the club this summer.
De Gea has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford after losing his No 1 spot to Dean Henderson. Sergio Romero is also out of contract at the end of the season and looks set to leave.
According to the Daily Star, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would consider bringing Heaton back to the club he left in 2010.

The shot-stopper came through the youth ranks at United but did not make a first-team appearance before joining Cardiff.
The report claims Solskjaer would rather sign West Brom shot-stopper Sam Johnstone, who also came through United’s academy.
Johnstone has had an impressive season for the Baggies but would likely favour a move that would guarantee regular playing time.
Heaton, 35, may be more ammeanable to being the No 2 behind Henderson.

He will also be a free agent in the summer with his two-year deal set to expire at the end of the season.
The ‘keeper, who joined Villa from Burnley for a fee of £8million in 2019, has not played for since recovering from a cruciate ligament injury which he picked up in December 2020.
Villa signed Emiliano Martinez from Arsenal in the summer and he has become the regular No 1.
Only Manchester City’s Ederson and Chelsea’s Edouard Mendy have kept more clean sheets than Martinez this season, meaning Heaton is unlikely to dislodge the Argentine.
