Manchester United midfielder Pogba has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford after his relationship with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer started to deteriorate.
After his blistering start under the Norwegian fizzled out, rumours that Pogba would leave the club that were commonplace under Jose Mourinho have resurfaced.
As well as links to Real Madrid, The Frenchman’s former club Juventus have expressed an interest in bringing the midfielder back to Italy, but that move could be scrapped.
Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola has been banned from practising as a football agent in Italy for a period of three months, which limits his opportunity to get a deal done this summer.
Italian outlet Gazzetta report that both Raiola, and his cousin Vincenzo have been handed bans, and Mino won’t be able to be involved with any transfers involving Italian clubs until August 9.
The Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio statement said: “The Sports Procurators Commission, any other exception, deduction and defence rejected, condemns Mr Carmine [Mino] Raiola and Mr Vincenzo Raiola, on his own behalf and as legal representatives of the companies they represent to sanction of the suspension from the exercise of the activity of sports attorney to the extent, respectively: with regard to Mr. Carmine Raiola, of 3 months, with regard to Mr. Vincenzo Raiola, of 2 months.”
That could be a boost to Solskjaer with Pogba’s options seemingly limited to Real Madid or PSG.
And he has previously said he expects Pogba to remain at Old Trafford for next season despite links to Real Madrid and Juventus.
“I think he will be here next season,” said Solskjaer in April.
“Paul has done fantastic for us. We want him to do well. He is a leader in the dressing room.
“If I could guarantee I would say yes. You can’t guarantee but I think he will be.”
United’s failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League could play a part in Pogba’s decision, with their clash against Cardiff City not enough to reach the top four.
Pogba’s form has tailed off in recent weeks with some fans turning on him in recent weeks.
Gary Neville and co have been critical of Pogba as his form goes up and down.
“I think he is world class,” Neville said on Sky Sports in April.
“I don’t think he wants to be here, that’s his problem.
“I think his agent’s into him. “I said two, three months ago when he was brilliant, he’s done brilliant for Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] by the way, he’s scored I think 11 goals, seven assists, but I honestly thought a couple of months ago we sat in this studio at the Liverpool game and everything was brilliant about Paul Pogba and I said ‘I believe that it will resurface, the issues will resurface’.
“We know his agent, we know the influence he has on him, we know that Pogba has got his head turned by other clubs and he’s playing like somebody who’s had his head turned.
“He’s playing like somebody who doesn’t quite want to be here.
“But tonight he could go out there and if he plays well he could win Manchester United the game.
“He did it last year in the derby. So if he turns up there’s no doubting his talent.
“The problem is if a player doesn’t want to be at a club and he has the influence that I think he has in the dressing room, I think the likes of [Jesse] Lingard, [Marcus] Rashford, [Anthony] Martial, I think they do come off him.
“And I think if he’s not quite at it and not raring to go, then it is a problem, it is a massive problem.”
