Man Utd considering former Jose Mourinho transfer target as Jadon Sancho alternative

Manchester United are reportedly considering Ivan Perisic as a potential alternative to Jadon Sancho. The club are currently weighing up other options to the England international, who looks set to stay at Borussia Dortmund for another season.

United have finally made a breakthrough on the technical side of the deal involving agent fees.

It’s been a stumbling block thought to be preventing them from launching an official bid in recent months.

Either way, Dortmund’s message is clear. They will not consider any offers below their £108million valuation.

With Sancho unlikely to push for a move, United are beginning to lose hope that a deal can be completed.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains desperate to bring a right-winger through the door though and that means assessing alternatives.

According to The Telegraph, Ivan Perisic is one possible option being discussed by the Old Trafford hierarchy.

Bayern Munich have decided not to bring him back to the Allianz Arena, having been part of the Champions League-winning squad last season.

As it stands, he is set to return to Inter Milan but there is a chance he could be on the move in the coming weeks.

He has already come close to joining United in the past in the summer of 2017, when Jose Mourinho was desperate to bring him to the club.

He has already come close to joining United in the past in the summer of 2017, when Jose Mourinho was desperate to bring him to the club.

A move failed to materialise though but now United could look to rectify their failure to bring him to the club.

Perisic has admitted he was set on joining the club and for that reason, the move may appeal to him again this time around.

“How close was I going there? Very close,” he told The Athletic.

“It was an amazing thing for me when Jose called me. It was difficult to say no to him.

“In fact, I really, really wanted to join him and play for United.

“It was a dream of mine to play in all the big leagues. But it didn’t happen. It was painful for me. But I don’t want to go into the details.

“I only found out myself the real reasons two years later.”
