Man Utd could be sold to Facebook or Amazon by Glazer family hunting mega payday

Manchester United could be sold to Facebook, Amazon or Dubai by the Glazers, according to reports.

United's highly unpopular owners appear to be nearing the end of their 17-year reign after announcing they are "exploring strategic alternatives". With the club being a global marketing machine, significant interest is expected from around the world.

And the Daily Mail claim tech giants Facebook and Amazon are "credible" suitors. They may have to compete with sovereign states such as Dubai, though, who are yet to follow in the footsteps of other Middle Eastern Countries.

The takeover of Newcastle by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund last year made them the third club of such status after Manchester City (Abu Dhabi) and PSG (Qatar).

Dubai are yet to dip their toes into the football market, while it's claimed Qatar could make United their second club. Both certainly have the money to make a move, with the Glazers seeking £6billion.

The Americans are said to be confident they can attract potential buyers from rivals Liverpool, who are also on the market after owners Fenway Sports Group said they were willing to sell.

Britain's richest man Sir Jim Ratcliffe is set to be the first party to make an offer for United. The lifelong fan missed out on buying fellow Premier League club Chelsea earlier this year and already owns Ligue 1 club Nice.

The sale could make the Red Devils the most valuable sports team in the world, a title currently held by the Dallas Cowboys who are said to be worth £7.23bn.
