Manchester United fans probably still wish they could turn to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer from the bench dig them out of a whole.
Such was his effectiveness and efficiency; Sir Alex Ferguson could always rely on the Norwegian’s clinical finishing and clever movement to drag United back into a contest and even find a winner.
22 years have passed since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s last ditch winner at the Nou Camp against Bayern Munich in the Champions League final, prompted commentator Clive Tyldesley’s most infamous line “And Solskjaer has won it”.
It secured a historic treble for the Red Devils, as well as a knighthood for Sir Alex Ferguson.
While his days as Ferguson’s tide turner from the bench are long gone, the 48-year-old boss proved he still knows where the goal is.
Recent footage from The Red Devils social media caught the Norwegian smashing a magnificent half volley into the roof of the net.
The effort was so pure, United fans even suggested the 'Baby Faced Assassin' should return to the starting line up.
“RASHY OLE SANCHO are the front three to win us the treble,” one fan said confidently.
“Play Ole and Carrick, we will win the league,” another added
"Solskjaer > Martial" said one fan boldly.
Solskjaer is still in the United dugouts, albeit he is now the one in the manager’s hot-seat of the Theatre of Dreams.
He contributed 126 goals and 50 assists in 365 appearances for United.
They are very impressive statistics considering he was almost exclusively an impact player to bring on from the bench rather than a certain starter during the eleven years he spent with the Red Devils.
After seeing his wicked strike in pre-season and his previous statistics, United fans may even desire Solskjaer to rip his United suit off Superman style and substitute himself on to recover the match for United.
