Manchester United, as always, remain in the spotlight. And many intriguing takeover details are beginning to emerge at a time where the Glazers are open to selling up. Express Sport now takes a look at all the latest coming out of Old Trafford.

Two new takeover candidates

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani appear to be the two frontrunners when it comes to buying United.

According to the Telegraph, however, there are also two other parties interested in a complete takeover.

As of yet, their identities haven’t been revealed. But with eight groups holding talks with the Glazers over a purchase, that could soon be set to change.

The rest, it seems, are eyeing investment – which would mean the Glazers staying at the club.

That is, however, something United fans hope won’t be the case with the Americans long polarising figures since their own takeover back in 2005.

Glazers ‘determined sellers’

To allay fears over the Glazers potentially staying, the same report from the Telegraph says they remain ‘determined sellers’.

While they’ve indicated they’re open to offers, Avram Glazer has previously warned the outcome may not be a full sale.

However, behind the scenes, things appear to be different.

Both Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim are set to visit Manchester in the coming days to then assess the next steps.

And what ultimately happens remains to be seen.

Rashford hails McCarthy

McCarthy has helped Marcus Rashford shine at United ever since his appointment as a coach back in the summer.

And the England international has now hailed the South African for the work he’s done at the club.

He told SuperSportTV: “He’s done a good job. Obviously, it can be tough with getting a full group of new coaches but everyone settled in really quickly.

“I feel like since Benni has come in we’ve worked more as a team going forward which has lead to us creating more chances of scoring goals.

“He keeps pushing us, he keeps trying to get us to improve.”

United missing key players for Real Betis clash

United have received an injury boost ahead of their clash with Real Betis on Thursday.

Marcel Sabitzer has been named in the squad, with the Austrian previously missing Sunday’s goalless draw with Southampton.

However, United are still without four key players.

Donny van de Beek and Christian Eriksen remain sidelined, with the latter poised to return from injury towards the end of the season.

And Anthony Martial has stayed at home, too, with the France international battling to regain full fitness after a disappointing campaign so far, while Antony also misses out.

Antony patience pleaded

Speaking to Ladbrokes, Andrei Kanchelskis has pleaded for United fans to be patient with Antony.

“My advice for Man United fans is to please just be patient with Antony. I really believe the club have a great player in him – there’s no question about it,” he said.

“His problem right now is finding that consistency. One game he’s great, the next? Not so good. But he’s still so young and I’m confident he can go on to be a success at United.

“Antony needs time, and that’s all I ask of Man United fans: give him time.

“I’m sure after one season playing in England – which is a really tough place to adapt to and settle in – he can go on to be a real success. Wait for him, please; he’s a great player.”
