Man Utd own two of the five top goalscorers in world football of the past decade

The likes of Manchester City and Liverpool are often credited with having the best strike forces in the Premier League.

But Manchester United fans may have something to say about that now.

Although the Red Devils have struggled so far this season and many are expecting them to be busy in the January transfer window, interim manager Ralf Rangnick could potentially put finding a clinical finisher on the backburner for the short-term.

United are currently sat in sixth place in the Premier League with 27 points, though they do have a game in hand over fifth-placed West Ham and two over Arsenal in fourth.

Rangnick will be confident that he can close that gap on the two aforementioned, especially as he has two of the five top goalscorers of the last decade.

Lionel Messi has scored the most goals in the world between 2011 and 2021, bagging 356 goals, winning five Ballon d’Ors in that time.

Then in second sits Red Devils hero Cristiano Ronaldo, 333, who is hoping that he is able to guide United back to trophies after years of the club falling well below par.

Robert Lewandowski (289) and Luis Suarez (240) then make up the top four, unsurprisingly.

Then two Premier League stars fill the fifth spot, Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Red Devils forward Edinson Cavani have both scored 201 goals over the past few years – though neither appear to be in the Premier League for too much longer.

Cavani has recently been linked with a move to Barcelona due to his lack of gametime at Old Trafford despite being one of the teams saving graces last season.

The arrival of Ronaldo has pushed the Uruguayan down the pecking order, and Rangnick’s keenness to play younger talent like Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho is limiting Cavani’s chances further.

Barcelona have been linked with potentially earmarking the 34-year-old for the January transfer window, and it is unlikely the former PSG man would be reluctant to move on considering he is coming into the backend of his career.

However, Barca’s chances of rescuing Cavani could now be slim as they are set to announce the signing of City’s Ferran Torres according to numerous reports.
