Manchester United ‘are pushing to sign Adrian Rabiot with Erik ten Hag seeing the Juventus midfielder as an important signing this summer’… and the Dutchman has ‘already spoken to the player’s agent’
- Manchester United reportedly want to try and sign Juventus star Adrien Rabiot
- Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag has apparently spoken to the Frenchman
- United previously failed in their bid to sign the 28-year-old last summer
Manchester United look set to resume their pursuit of Adrien Rabiot after previously failing to bring the Juventus midfielder to Old Trafford last summer.
The Frenchman was nearing a move to United following Erik ten Hag’s arrival with club executives even flying abroad to try and wrap up a deal.
United are now pushing to try and finalise a move for Rabiot who will be a free agent at the end of the season, according to French media outlet L’Equipe.
The 28-year-old’s existing four-year deal at Juventus will expire in June and United apparently want to try and take advantage of the player’s free agent status.
Ten Hag is keen to further strengthen his side in the transfer market and has apparently made the combative midfield player an ‘important target’.
Juventus star Adrien Rabiot is reportedly wanted by Manchester United this summer
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has reportedly held talks with Rabiot
The Red Devils boss has reportedly held talks with Rabiot in a bid to try and get a jump on other potential suitors that could attempt to hijack a deal.
Last summer saw United fail in midfield pursuits of Rabiot and Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong with Casemiro and Christian Eriksen the only additions to Ten Hag’s engineroom.
Rabiot will be able to decide his own future and could demand a higher salary given that United won’t have to negotiate a fee with another club to land the star.
The French star is currently enjoying his best season in Serie A having scored 11 goals in all competitions for the Italian giants.
French star Rabiot has previously expressed his desire to play in the Premier League
Rabiot has previously expressed his desire to play in the Premier League, admitting at the World Cup in Qatar that he views the English top-flight as suited to his qualities.
‘I don’t have a favorite team, there isn’t really a club where I would necessarily like to play.
‘It is above all the league and its level that attract me. I also think that the way of playing there matches my qualities more.’
Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are also reportedly interested in the midfielder.
