Manchester United are poised to show Cristiano Ronaldo off to the world before their Premier League clash with Newcastle on Saturday, reports say. The Portugal international recently returned to the club from Juventus after 12 years away. And the Red Devils are hoping he can be the ticket to silverware, having failed to win a trophy under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer so far.
Manchester United had a strong summer transfer window.
Tom Heaton was the first player to arrive, with the veteran joining from Aston Villa on free.
Jadon Sancho followed, with the 21-year-old moving from Borussia Dortmund in a deal that was four years in the making.
Afterwards, United then snapped up Raphael Varane – luring the France international to the club from Real Madrid.
And, on deadline day, Ronaldo’s blockbuster return was made official.

Now, The Sun say the 36-year-old is set for a ‘solo walk to the centre circle’ before Saturday’s showdown at Old Trafford gets underway.
United want to show Ronaldo off to their supporters, knowing it will give them a substantial boost.
And the scenes are set to be reminiscent of what they did with Varane before their stirring 5-1 hammering of Leeds on the opening day of the season.
The France international wasn’t registered in time to play in that fixture.
But United allowed Varane to say hello to supporters, giving him a shirt with his name and number on the back while Old Trafford roared him on.

If that’s anything to go by, Newcastle could be in for a long afternoon.
While the noise that greeted Varane was loud, things will be cranked up several notches for Ronaldo’s Hollywood homecoming.
And fans can expect United to play with swagger and style, just like they did against Leeds after Varane’s introduction.
Bruno Fernandes scored a sublime hat-trick that day, with Mason Greenwood and Fred also on target.
And whether Ronaldo’s presence inspires United to all three points remains to be seen.
Harry Redknapp has backed the veteran to be big hit, insisting he’ll be Solskjaer’s ‘biggest ally’ at the club.
“I don’t think we’ll see the Ronaldo of old, you’ll see him passing more, rather than speeding at defenders,” he said.
“And he’s just got that knack of being in the right place at the right time.
“He will be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s biggest ally, because he shows everyone else how to do things, how he works, how to live their lives.
“Carlo Ancelotti told that when he managed him at Real Madrid, Ronnie was always first in and last out at training. Not now and then, but every single day.
“Mason Greenwood, 19, Jadon Sancho, 21, and 23-year-old Marcus Rashford… all those young players at United will learn so much from him.
“All the Academy kids, they should be watching him and soaking up every bit of knowledge they can.”
Ronaldo scored just one hat-trick during his first United spell.
And, ironically, that came against Newcastle in 2008.
United won 6-0 that year, with Carlos Tevez bagging a brace and Rio Ferdinand also on target.
