Manchester United vs Man City predicted line-ups: Team news ahead of Carabao Cup semi-final tonight

Pep Guardiola will look to continue his exceptional record in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, but standing in his and Manchester City’s way are a resurgent Manchester United, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hoping to present more evidence that he has turned the club around and has them heading in the right direction to challenge for trophies once more.

The two rivals met in the semis of the competition last year, City triumphing on aggregate on their way to a third straight EFL Cup success, while the Manchester derby shortly before Christmas proved to be a tame, dull, eventless encounter – one which hopefully won’t be repeated here as one team must prevail.

At least one of Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford have scored in every single Man United game since that derby draw – including the weekend win over Aston Villa – while Anthony Martial has also rediscovered some form in attack, leaving City in no doubt as to where the main threats to their crown will come from.

City themselves returned to form in style on Sunday, beating Chelsea with ease and with a stark reminder to rival teams that when they click, they can be one of the most devastating and difficult to stop clubs around.
