Matteo Guendouzi’s Arsenal saga takes twist as PSG make transfer decision

PSG have snubbed the chance to sign Arsenal's Matteo Guendouzi who looks set for the exit door.

The Gunners midfielder has not been able to win over Mikel Arteta and will be moved on if the club can find a suitor.

Guendouzi grabbed Brighton's Neal Maupay by the throat in Arsenal's 2-1 defeat on the south coast in June which was not well received.

Arteta has already begun shaping his squad at the Emirates with the signing of Gabriel from Lille confirmed.

But the Spaniard is also targeting a central midfielder which appears to spell the end for Guendouzi, who has not played since the incident on the south coast.

Thomas Partey is their No 1 target but Atletico Madrid want his £45m release clause paid in full which may prove an issue for Arsenal.

Guendouzi has been linked with Valencia and a return to France with PSG, but the Telegraph understands the Parisians have turned down the opportunity to add the Frenchman.

He started his Gunners career brightly after being signed by Unai Emery, but looks surplus to requirements under Arteta.

Fellow midfielders Lucas Torreira and Mohamed Elneny are also up for sale.

Talks are underway over a potential return for Dani Ceballos however with Arteta giving his compatriot plenty of opportunities.

The 24-year-old spent the season on loan from Real Madrid and could again return.

One Emirates star who has attracted PSG's attention though is right-back Hector Bellerin.

Arsenal are keen to retain the player's services but will listen to offers with a £25m bid touted.

The Gunners look to have made a u-turn on the future of Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who can step in at right-back, while Cedric Soares is also an option.
