Manchester United have been put on red alert with Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly available for just £69million, according to reports.

The 28-year-old is said to be one of the Napoli stars who have hired bodyguards to protect themselves and their families from ultra fans following their abysmal start to the season.

Koulibaly is widely considered to be one of the best centre-backs in the world but has endured a difficult season so far with Napoli picking up just 19 points from 12 games.

Italian outlet Il Mattino claim Napoli are ready to part with Koulibaly for a cut-price figure of just £69m.

That is like music to Manchester United’s ears, having failed to sign him in the summer with a much higher offer.

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis revealed last month: ‘I loved Koulibaly the man so I refused the £91m offer, but a time will come when I’ll have to sell him.’

United ended up bringing in Harry Maguire from Leicester in a world-record move worth £80m after missing out on Koulibaly.
