Manchester United are likely to be without Anthony Martial for at least their next two games, after suffering a knee injury on international duty.
Martial hobbled out of last week’s World Cup qualifier with Kazakhstan after picking up an issue with his left knee.
The forward was absent for France’s win over Bosnia in midweek and according to L’Equipe he is likely to miss out on this weekend’s clash with Brighton.
The report suggests the Frenchman is also a major doubt for the Europa League quarter final, first leg with Granada next Thursday.
Speaking about his injury, France manager Didier Deschamps said: “Anthony has a small issue on his knee. Nothing is decided yet.
“He won’t be taking part in the training session a bit later. We’ll see tomorrow. Anything serious has been dismissed.
“We’ve run some tests, but there’s still the pain, and having travelled as long as we have, that hasn’t helped.”
It is claimed Martial has underwent a radio-logical examination and has suffered a ‘small lesion in the head of fibula’.
With Mason Greenwood also set to be out of action at the weekend, it leaves the Red Devils short of options going forward.
Meanwhile, former United winger Keith Gillespie has claimed that Solskjaer should drop Martial and allow Marcus Rashford to play in his best position.
“I don’t think you can call Martial an out-and-out striker. He came to the club as a striker, he wanted to play as a striker, but I suppose he’s played a lot of his time out on the left,” Gillespie told the Football Fancast.

“That’s another thing I don’t understand. Rashford is not as effective from the right. We know he’s more effective from the left, but then when Martial plays and plays on the left, he puts Rashford on the right.
“Just don’t play Martial, put Rashford in his best position. Greenwood’s more effective from the right and Rashford from the left with that combination, rather than Martial on the left and Rashford on the right.”
