Pepe’s 6 top s***house moments after ex-Real Madrid villain incites 42-man brawl

It's safe to say that Pepe has ruffled a few feathers over the course of his professional career.

Pepe is a true 'master of the dark arts', and he has carved out a reputation as one of football's most infamous players in recent years.

And the Portuguese defender was up to his usual tricks during Porto'sChampions League clash with Atletico Madrid on Wednesday evening.

The 38-year-old was spotted at the centre of a 42-person brawl as Porto's Champions League's dreams slipped between their fingers.

As a result of the brawl, Daily Star Sport is looking at the veteran defenders six most s***house moments.

42 man Porto brawl

We'll start with the most recent of Pepe demonstrating his gamesmanship.

Porto were reduced to ten men when Wendall was given his marching order after appearing to strike an Atleti player.

The red led Pepe, backed by a whole host of Porto players, to engage with some of the Atleti players leading to coaches to get involved as the referee desperately tried to regain control.

Pepe avoided a booking for his troubles, but Porto were dumped out of Europe's premier competition.

Getafe outburst

Perhaps Pepe's most infamous moment.

In a run of the mill La Liga game, in 2009, Real Madrid found themselves drawing 2-2 with Getafe.

And as Javier Casquero burst into the area, Pepe had a rush of blood to the head that caused him to take the Spaniard down before kicking him in the back, twice, and showing his head into the turf.

Pepe's actions saw him brandishing a red card, and he was later slapped with a ten-match ban.

Portugal's 2014 World Cup campaign wasn't the greatest chapter in their illustrious history.

And the Portuguese side opened their campaign in Brazil with a 4-0 loss to eventual champions Germany.

But Pepe ensured that Portugal's task was going to be even tougher when he brandished his arm across the face of Thomas Muller for no reason outside of the Portugal box.

Muller was, understandably, incensed, and he leapt to his feet as the box locked heads.

Lionel Messi stamp

In the early 2010s, El Clasico was must-see TV, while a lot of that was down to Barcelona's brilliance in that era, every hero is only as good as their villain.

And Pepe played the perfect pantomime villain every time he, and Real Madrid, ran out onto the pitch at the Camp Nou.

During a Copa Del Ray fixture, in 2012, Pepe stamped on the hand of Lionel Messi.

Pepe maintained it was accidental, while the officials failed to see the incident, leaving Pepe to escape punishment.

Medhi Benatia dive

Not just content with trying to get away with fouls, Pepe is a big fan of trying to buy them too.

During Portugal 2018 World Cup clash with Morocco, Pepe did his best to make the most out of Medhi Benatia's 'challenge'.

To call it a challenge is probably an overstatement; Benatia appears to tap Pepe on the shoulder, only for the veteran to fall to the ground in an attempt to get the defender booked.

Portugal registered a 1-0 win thanks to an early goal through Cristiano Ronaldo.

Diego Costa battle

And so we come to Pepe's pièce de résistance, his battle with Diego Costa during the 2013/14 Copa del Rey.

In a situation that seems dreamt up by Vince McMahon to main event Wrestlemania, football's two biggest 's***houses' did battle five times over the course of the season.

Pepe put Real Madrid in the lead before unleashing an elbow at Costa and falling to the ground to make it look like a 50/50.

The Portuguese star was eventually carded, and so was Costa, to which Pepe responded by laughing in his face, a lot.

After more shenanigans between the pair, Pepe was able to scrap his studs down the back of Costa's achilles to have the final say between the duo.
