Rio Ferdinand believes Mason Greenwood and Luke Shaw are the only Manchester United players who will have given Ralf Rangnick something to think about following the draw with Young Boys.
With United already qualified for the Champions League knockout stages as group winners, interim boss Rangnick made 11 changes to his side on Wednesday night.
Greenwood started his first match under the German and repaid that faith with a wonderful opener after nine minutes.
Shaw, who had missed the last four matches after suffering a concussion against Watford, returned at left-back and provided the assist for Greenwood’s goal before being replaced on the hour.
Donny van de Beek and Jesse Lingard were also handed rare starts after being frequently overlooked by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer while Aaron Wan-Bissaka returned to the side following Diogo Dalot’s recent impressive displays at right-back.
But former United defender Ferdinand believes many on the pitch failed to truly take their chance to impress the new manager.
‘I don’t think anyone other than Mason gave Ralf something to think about,’ Ferdinand told BT Sport.
Former United midfielder Owen Hargreaves added: ‘Mason Greenwood is probably the one player in this starting XI would can play in the Premier League side.
‘Every time he plays, he is looking forward. It was a beautiful goal, a brilliant finish.’
Ferdinand also tipped Shaw to regain in his place in the side, with Alex Telles filling in at left-back in recent weeks.
‘I would put Luke Shaw in that too, I think him [Greenwood] and Shaw are the players that stand out, the ones that have a chance of playing in the Premier League.’
