Shearer spots Chelsea trait which gives Ziyech freedom to excel with Blues

Alan Shearer says that freedom will help get the best out of Hakim Ziyech at Chelsea.

The Moroccan winger bagged the first of the Blues' goals in their 3-0 win at Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.

But his all-round performance also garnered praise in the post-match analysis on Match of the Day.

Shearer claims that Ziyech fits perfectly into the system that Chelsea play – because it allows him the space to do what he does best.

"He did exceptionally well," said Shearer.

"He’s struggled with injuries to get into the team, scored in midweek in the Champions League which would have given him great confidence and I thought he was the best player for Chelsea today.

"He was creating, he was scoring, he was just a constant threat all afternoon.

"He just sends Pope the wrong way, did have to do his bit of defensive work and did that very well.

"He was given a bit of freedom, if he wants to have a roam he can do that because Kante is there if he does lose the ball and he was a constant, full of confidence.

“We spoke about Shaqiri’s weight of pass in the Liverpool game, that assist for Werner was just as good. Very, very good Chelsea, especially going forward.”
