Manchester United are weighing up a move for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar as uncertainty surrounding the future of Paul Pogba grows.
Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are also believed to be interested in Aouar and United have now entered the race for the 23-year-old.
The Frenchman is under contract at Lyon for a further two years, but the Ligue 1 side are said to be open to the idea of parting ways for the talented midfielder.
In United's case, a move is being considered as Pogba's contract situation remains unsolved.
The 28-year-old will be a free agent as of next summer and is yet to agree fresh terms with the Red Devils.
PSG are believed to be debating a move for the France international and Solskjaer views Aouar as a suitable replacement, according to a report from ESPN.
Arsenal came close to striking a deal for the Lyon star last September, but saw two bids turned down by the Ligue 1 side.
Explaining his decision to remain in France, Aouar told Telfefoot: "I felt that I can still bring something to this team.
"I wanted to continue the adventure with the club who raised me We must raise our heads because we have to do better."

One year down the line and Mikel Arteta's side have not yet given up hope of securing his services.
The Gunners are in the market for an attacking midfielder, having bid farewell to loan stars Dani Ceballos and Martin Odegaard.
United, meanwhile, have already agreed to bring Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho to Old Trafford and are now targeting a move for Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.
Aouar would represent another strong piece of transfer business by the Red Devils, though there is plenty of negotiating still to be done.
