Premier League promotion-chasing Swansea City have contacted Arsenal regarding a loan move for striker Folarin Balogun, according to reports.

The 19-year-old is highly-rated at the Emirates Stadium but has just six months left to run on his contract and has yet to agree a new deal after becoming frustrated at his lack of game time.

Top-flight champions Liverpool have also been linked with signing the England youth international on a free transfer, but now Football Insider claim Steve Cooper’s men have enquired about a move for the striker.

Balogun has just six months left on his contract and has yet to agree a new deal despite making his senior debut for Mikel Arteta’s men earlier this season

The Championship side – who were relegated from the Premier League in 2018 – are keen to add to their attacking options this month, and looked set to signing Michael Obafemi before the Southampton forward suffered an injury.

That has seen the Liberty Stadium outfit – who sit second in the Championship table, four points behind leaders Norwich – turn their attention to Balogun, who has scored 55 goals in 82 games for the Gunners’ youth teams.

For the senior side, he has scored two goals against Dundalk and Molde in four Europa League games, while having also featured in the Carabao Cup for the north London club.

News of a departure comes around a month after Gunners boss Mikel Arteta said he was hopeful Balogun would commit his future to the club.

‘Well we’re having some discussions with the player. He knows that we want to retain him at the club,’ said Arteta.

‘We know that the length of his contract at the moment is an issue but we’re trying to resolve it the best possible way. We want him to stay.

‘He said to me that he wants to stay at the club hopefully we can reach an agreement and extend his contract.’

Balogun has scored twice in four Europa League games this season, including at Dundalk
