Former Arsenal and France striker Thierry Henry has come to the defence of PSG forward Kylian Mbappe amid speculation over his future at the club and says ‘he is doing nothing bad’.

Mbappe’s future in Paris is unclear with just one year remaining on his current contract, while Real Madrid weigh up a late offer to bring him to the Bernabeu.

The latest reports in France suggest the forward has rejected PSG’s offer of a new deal and the club may have no choice but to sell him to Real Madrid before the transfer window shuts.

Mbappe has a year remaining on his PSG contract and has reportedly rejected a new deal

The France international has been booed by his own fans this season, but Henry has come to the defence of his compatriot, claiming ‘he is doing nothing bad’.

Henry says that ‘it is normal to evaluate things’ but hopes the 22-year-old will stay with the Parisians.

The 44-year-old told Amazon Prime: ‘I don’t know what is happening with Kylian Mbappe.

‘We can always speculate and say a lot of things. Me, what I see is that he is still there, that he is training, he is walking, he is running and he is trying to create chances for his team-mates.

‘He scores, I know that well. He is a player who is also honouring his contract, he is doing nothing bad and he is responding on the pitch, so be happy.

The 22-year-old was on the scoresheet on Friday as PSG beat Brest 4-2 away from home

‘Like I often say, with an exceptional player we are always looking for the little things wrong. I hope that he will stay at PSG, I hope that he will be good and we will see after for what the future will bring him because it is normal to evaluate things.

‘But is he lacking in respect towards someone? No, I have not yet seen that. He is there, he is present and he is even playing well.’

Mbappe was on the scoresheet last Friday as PSG beat Brest 4-2 away from home to make it three league wins on the bounce.
