Tottenham technical director Fabio Paratici has opened talks with Wolves over the signing of Adama Traore, according to reports. The Spurs chief holds a long-term interest in the Spanish international wideman, who he wanted to bring to Juventus during his time in Turin.

Furthermore, Tottenham were also keen on a deal last summer but Wolves refused to budge, eventually keeping the 25-year-old.

But Adama has failed to kick on once again this season under Bruno Lage and his time at Molineux now appears to be drawing to a close.

The jet-heeled attacker has really struggled to build on the finest season of his career to date in 2019/20 when he managed six goals and 12 assists in all competition as Wolves reached the Europa League quarter-finals.

Now Spurs are looking to pounce after Adama and his reps failed to agree a new contract with Wolves.

According to The Telegraph, Paratici has now opened talks with the Black Country club over a January deal.

The development has emerged amid suggestions that Wolves could cash in on Adama, who has 18 months left on his current deal.

Wolves technical director Scott Sellars confirmed this week via a statement that the club were not expecting to bring in new faces through the door this month.

It’s feared the club would have to sell Adama or Ruben Neves in order to fund some new additions.

Tottenham are keen on adding Traore to their squad with Antonio Conte now determined to strengthen his pack following the 2-0 Carabao Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea.

The Italian is planning to convert Adama into a wing-back, a position that would utilise his electric speed and dribbling ability.

It’s a department Spurs have been lacking in recent times following the sale of Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid in 2019.

New signing Emerson Royal has failed to convince so far while Matt Doherty has been tipped for a potential return to Wolves.

The Republic of Ireland international has had a rough time since making the switch to north London.

Doherty was signed by Jose Mourinho for around £16m in August 2020 but has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter.

Spurs are expected to be very active in the market this summer as they look to revamp their underwhelming squad.

Paratici is now optimistic that Adama will be the first name through the door…
