Villa's trip to Man United the pick of the FA Cup third round TV games

Steven Gerrard taking his in-form Aston Villa side to face Manchester United is the pick of the televised FA Cup third round games next month. 

It has been revealed this afternoon which of the ties will be shown live when the competition gets underway, with United’s clash against Villa a standout.

That game, which is one of three all-Premier League showdowns, will be screened on January 10 at 7:55pm across the BBC.

Friday, January 7

Swindon Town v Manchester City – 20:00 – ITV 1

Saturday, January 8 

Millwall v Crystal Palace – 12:45 – ITV 1

Hull City v Everton – 17:30 – BBC One and iPlayer

Sunday, January 9

West Ham v Leeds United – 14:15 – ITV 1

Nottingham Forest v Arsenal – 17:15 – ITV 1

Monday, January 10

Manchester United v Aston Villa – 19.55 – BBC One and iPlayer

Elsewhere, the action in the next stage of the cup will begin with Manchester City travelling to Swindon Town.

Supporters of both teams will be able to take in the drama from the County Ground on Friday, January 7. Kick-off is at 8pm, and coverage is provided by ITV.

Six of the ties will be shown live on TV between January 7 and January 10.

As well as City’s clash with Swindon, ITV will also show Millwall v Crystal Palace, West Ham v Leeds and Nottingham Forest v Arsenal.

Everton face Championship side Hull City on January 8, live on BBC One and iPlayer.

Millwall take on Palace, meanwhile, at 12:45pm on the same day.

Each of the clubs chosen will receive a live broadcast fee of £85,000. 

Chelsea, the Champions League holders, will hope to avoid a major upset when they host non-league side Chesterfield – who are top of the National League.

A League Two vs Premier League clash sees Port Vale host newly-promoted Brentford, while Tottenham will take on League One side Morecambe. 

West Ham will host Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds in another standout game, while Millwall host Crystal Palace in a mouth-watering south London derby. 

Leicester City are the current FA Cup holders, after they beat Chelsea 1-0 at last year’s final

Sixth tier Kidderminster Harriers, who are the lowest-ranked team in the competition, will host Championship side Reading, while Rafa Benitez will hope for another positive result at Everton for their trip to Hull City.

Non-league Boreham Wood have been granted a home tie against League One AFC Wimbledon after they brushed aside St Albans in front of the cameras.

The other non-league side, Yeovil Town, will be hoping to shock AFC Bournemouth, who are second in the Championship and flying high under Scott Parker.
