World’s most expensive XI by transfer value including seven Premier League stars

The world’s most expensive XI has been revealed after transfer valuations by CIES were updated, with seven Premier League players making the cut.

It has been all change in the list, with former leader and PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe falling down the list.

The Frenchman has been replaced at the top by Manchester United star Marcus Rashford, with plenty of youngsters from around the world rounding off the top 10.

The likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City are also represented in the most expensive XI, while Borussia Dortmund have two players in the top 10.

Here is the world’s most expensive XI laid out in a 4-3-3 formation, according to CIES.

Ederson (GK)

The Man City and Brazil stopper tops the list at just under £80, edging out Barcelona ’s Marc-André ter Stegen and fellow countryman Alisson.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB)

The Liverpool right-back is the most expensive defender in the world, and it’s not hard to see why based on his recent performances for the Reds.

Alphonso Davies (LB)

The Canadian helped to guide Bayern Munich to Champions League glory last summer, and has burst onto the scene in the last 12 months, quite literally!

Ruben Dias (CB)

City’s second representative on the list, Dias has become an important player for the Sky Blues since joining in the summer.

Matthijs de Ligt (CB)

De Ligt has taken his career up another notch since joining Juventus from Ajax, and could become one of the best centre-halves of all-time.

Bruno Fernandes (CM)

Arguably the best player on the planet right now, Fernandes has turned United into genuine title contenders this season.

Kai Havertz (CM)

He hasn’t hit the ground running at Chelsea, but Havertz is still seen as one of the most promising talents on the planet, and should come good.

Mason Mount (CM)

Perhaps a surprise inclusion, 21-year-old Mount features in almost every game for Chelsea, and has shown his ability in recent years.

Kylian Mbappe (RW)

The man who topped the list last, Mbappe is now down to fifth on the list, probably because his contract expires in 2022, but he is still firing on all cylinders for PSG.

Erling Haaland (ST)

The second most expensive player on the list, Haaland has been in red hot form since joining Borussia Dortmund, and it could only be a matter of time before he makes the move to a top, top team.
