Chelsea forward Hakim Ziyech ‘is being targeted by Borussia Dortmund with struggling star starting just TWICE for the Blues in the Premier League this season… as Bundesliga club eye up loan move’
- Hakim Ziyech joined from Ajax in the summer of 2020 for around £38million
- However, the Moroccan has been in and out of the Chelsea team ever since
- The 28-year-old is now hoping to force his way back into the national team
- Borussia Dortmund are second in the Bundesliga – four points off Bayern Munich
Hakim Ziyech is reportedly being lined up by Borussia Dortmund following the Moroccan’s tough start to the season with Chelsea.
Ziyech joined the Blues in the summer of 2020 from Ajax for around £38million, but since then, he has started just 17 times in the Premier League and has featured only four times in the top flight this term.
With Thomas Tuchel’s side top of the table, the situation for Ziyech at Stamford Bridge doesn’t look like improving anytime soon and according to Bild, Dortmund are interested in the 28-year-old’s signature.

The 28-year-old has started just two Premier League games for Chelsea so far this season
The Sun have also reported that any move to the Westfalenstadion in January would take the form of a loan.
Dortmund are currently second in the Bundesliga and sit four points behind perennial champions Bayern Munich, with the pair set to face each other on December 4.
Any transfer the winger could make in the upcoming window would be with a view to forcing his way back into Morocco’s plans ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup next year, having not been called up by Vahid Halilhodzic since June after his lack of opportunities this term at club level.
Ziyech’s debut campaign in England was punctuated by knee and hip injuries that saw miss 12 games in total, and the former Ajax man will be hoping that a consistent run of games can help lead to the sort of form that saw him score 16 and assist 17 more as the Amsterdam outfit stormed to the 2018-19 Eredivisie title.
Last term was significantly less fruitful, with Ziyech scoring two and assisting three in the league in 2020-21, although he did bag the winner in the FA Cup semi-final against City and crucially score the opener in the Champions League last-16 second leg against Atletico Madrid.
The west Londoners went on to win 3-0 on aggregate and ultimately seal just their second-ever triumph in the competition, although Ziyech was on the bench for the 1-0 victory over Pep Guardiola’s men in the final.
Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland’s displays have helped Borussia Dortmund up to second
Until January rolls around, Ziyech will be looking for chances to impress, with Chelsea facing a busy next few weeks.
A lunchtime kick-off at Leicester next Saturday is a rude awakening after the international break, before home matches against Juventus and Manchester United round off November.
Tuchel then must prepare his charges for nine matches in December as they attempt to fight on four fronts heading into 2022, with their assignments including a tough trip to Brentford in the EFL Cup.
