Zlatan Ibrahimovic has opened negotiations with his former club AC Milan over a potential return to the Serie A side.
The 38-year-old is a free agent after leaving LA Galaxy and is weighing up offers to return to Europe.
Upon leaving the MLS outfit, he promised his fans that ‘the story continues’ as he seeks another club to turn out for in his spectacular career.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic was only at AC Milan for two years but still managed to score 56 goals
And now the former Sweden international is said to be locked in talks with his former employers Milan, where he made 85 appearances between 2010 and 2012, proving to be his usual clinical self by netting 56 goals.
It’s believed officials from the Italian giants met with Ibrahimovic’s agent Mino Raiola on Wednesday, although it is thought that discussions are at an early stage.
The former Manchester United and PSG star is said to still hold high wage demands despite his age, which could prove to be a stumbling block as talks continue.
The ex-Sweden star has been a big hit at LA Galaxy and scored 31 goals in 31 games this year
He had also been linked to another Serie A side in Bologna, who are reported to remain interested, although Milan are more likely to be able to stump up the funds to cover such high salary expectations.
After leaving Galaxy earlier this month, ‘Ibra’ posted a message to his followers on Twitter, writing a typically bullish note boasting about his impact on the MLS, and joked that fans could ‘go back to watching baseball’.
Zlatan has played for some of the biggest clubs in football and won two trophies at Man United
‘I came, I saw, I conquere,’ he said. ‘Thank [email protected] for making me feel alive again. To the Galaxy fans – you wanted Zlatan, I gave you Zlatan. You are welcome. The story continues… Now go back to watch baseball.’
Ibrahimovic has always entertained throughout his career – and has consistently delivered in front of goal – scoring an incredible 474 times in 788 outings across a spell of top clubs.
He has played for Ajax, Juventus, Inter, Barcelona, Milan, PSG and Manchester United, and despite edging close to 40, he very likely still has plenty to offer for another big European side.
