Emma Raducanu has undergone the last of her three surgeries. Earlier this month, the British No 1 announced that she would be having procedures on both hands and her ankle, forcing her out of competition for an extended period. Raducanu is expected to miss Wimbledon and even the US Open, where she won the title as a qualifier in 2021.
Raducanu’s Instagram account has been full of post-surgery photos in recent days and the 20-year-old shared another snap from her hospital bed on Monday as she confirmed that she had undergone the last of her three planned surgeries.
The world No 103 had been struggling with injuries on both of her wrists since last summer and was forced to pull out of her Madrid Open match hours before she was set to take to the court. A few days later she announced that she would be sidelined for several months after choosing to have surgery on both hands and her ankle – which she hurt in Auckland at the start of the year.
She first had surgery on her right hand before having the ankle procedure days later. And on Monday her right hand was the latest to be operated on, as she shared a photo showing off all three casts and writing: “All glitz. 3/3.”

With the surgeries now all out of the way, Raducanu faces several months of rehab and recovery before she can return to the tour. The 20-year-old confirmed that she would miss the summer events when she first announced the news earlier this month, while her agent also hinted that the US Open would be out of the question.
“I’m having a minor procedure done on both hands to resolve the issues. I’m disappointed to share that I will be out for the next few months and while I am at it will have another minor procedure that is due on my ankle,” she wrote in her initial announcement, which received support from fellow athletes.
