Ipswich MMA fighter Arnold Allen continues his run towards a shot at the UFC featherweight title as he takes on No5 ranked Calvin Kattar later tonight. Arnold sits one place behind Kattar at No6 and could find himself just one fight away from a clash against 145lb champion Alexander Volkanovski with Max Holloway, Yair Rodriguez, Brian Ortega, and Josh Emmet all looming as potential final eliminator options for the winner.
The Brit has won all nine of his UFC contests since joining the MMA giants in 2015 including a one-round demolition job of fan-favourite Dan Hooker in his last outing. However, Kattar serves as a solid step up in competition for Allen and a true litmus test for whether he is among the divisional elites.
Kattar recently lost a razor-close split decision to Emmet and will be hoping to get back to winning ways this evening.

Kattar vs Allen goes down tonight at the UFC Apex institute in Las Vegas.

Kattar: “This kid’s on the way up. He’s like 8-0, something like that. Climbing the rankings. Doing what he’s gotta do. That being said, I don’t know if he’s ever fought anybody like myself or of that top-five calibre. We’re gonna see how he handles it.
“It’s just another target moving in my direction… They’re all just opposition and an opportunity for me to go out there and prove why I’m one of the best in the world, and change my life with another win.”
Allen: “There’s so much respect for his game and what he’s done, and everyone knows what he’s done. Everyone knows how good he is. It’s going to bring out my A-game, and I’m looking forward to seeing how good that A-game is.”
