And what about Man United &#8216;diving&#8217;?: Listen to It&#8217;s All Kicking Off, Mail Sport&#8217;s new podcast\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Police have appealed for information after Jamaal Lascelles was involved in a city-centre brawl in Newcastle.<\/p>\n<p>The Newcastle captain was on a night out with his younger brother and friend following the team\u2019s 1-0 defeat against Manchester City on Saturday, August 19 when trouble flared at 4am the following day.<\/p>\n<p>It is said a man elbowed Lascelles&#8217; 19-year-old sibling in the throat in an &#8216;unproved attack&#8217;, prompting the defender to step in.<\/p>\n<p>The gang allegedly &#8216;threatened to shoot&#8217; Lascelles during the incident, which occurred after he had left nightclub Chinawhite.<\/p>\n<p>Police have confirmed they are investigating and have now made an appeal for more information.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/28\/16\/74800567-12453687-image-m-11_1693237236669.jpg\" height=\"688\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Police are investigating a city-centre brawl involving Newcastle captain Jamaal Lascelles\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/28\/16\/74800561-12453687-image-m-6_1693237019607.jpg\" height=\"511\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>It is claimed a gang of men threatened to shoot the 29-year-old Newcastle defender (above)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/28\/16\/74800565-12453687-image-m-14_1693237269600.jpg\" height=\"788\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Lascelles (right) was allegedly attacked by a group of &#8216;six to eight&#8217; men in a brawl on a night out<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/29\/09\/74823499-12456155-image-m-26_1693296704969.jpg\" height=\"327\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Police have made an appeal for information relating to the incident on Westgate Road (above)<\/p>\n<p>A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: &#8216;Shortly after 4am on Sunday, August 20, we received a report of disorder involving a number of people on Westgate Road, in Newcastle city centre.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Officers attended however it is believed that those involved had already left the scene before they arrived.<\/p>\n<p>Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should use the &#8216;Tell Us Something&#8217; page of our website or call 101, quoting NP-20230820-0227.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Mail Sport exclusively revealed how the gang had &#8216;threatened to shoot&#8217; Lascelles and his brother during the mass brawl.\u00a0 After Lascelles&#8217; sibling was reportedly elbowed, one onlooker claims the centre-half stepped in a pushed the man away.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It is alleged a bottle of vodka was then thrown towards Lascelles and missed his head narrowly. A group of &#8216;six to eight&#8217; men then reportedly &#8216;attacked&#8217; the 29-year-old star which led to him being &#8216;punched from all angles&#8217;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It is said he managed to throw one of the men to the floor, but his brother was &#8216;punched in the face and was bleeding&#8217;. Their friend, meanwhile, was &#8216;kicked in the head and knocked unconscious&#8217;. It was during the fracas that the group are alleged to have said they were going to &#8216;shoot&#8217; Lascelles.<\/p>\n<p>In a video seen by Mail Sport, Lascelles is leaning over one of the men in the road and appears to be calling for calm when he is blindsided and punched in the face. He responds by throwing a punch in the direction of the same man.<\/p>\n<p>Sources say the Nottingham-born star was acting in self defence throughout the incident and was trying to protect his teenage brother.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/28\/16\/74801047-12453687-image-m-25_1693237877122.jpg\" height=\"649\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Video footage obtained by Mail Sport shows Lascelles (in the green gilet) involved in the fight<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/28\/16\/74801007-12453687-image-m-26_1693237891585.jpg\" height=\"615\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Lascelles left a club called Chinawhite when a man allegedly elbowed his 19-year-old younger brother while a bottle of vodka is said to have been thrown at the Newcastle centre-back<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/28\/16\/74800557-12453687-image-a-8_1693237166722.jpg\" height=\"458\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Newcastle United are aware of the incident and say the matter will be dealt with internally<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/28\/16\/74800501-12453687-image-a-7_1693237128222.jpg\" height=\"447\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Lascelles (right) has fallen down the pecking order at Newcastle since Eddie Howe&#8217;s arrival\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The group of men then ran off before emergency services arrived and Lascelles&#8217; friend was taken to hospital.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Onlookers say they feared he was dead given that he was unconscious for 15 minutes while paramedics worked on him. Police have since spoken to the alleged victim, although we understand no arrests have been made.<\/p>\n<p>Newcastle, meanwhile, are aware of the incident and have seen the video. They say the matter will be dealt with internally.<\/p>\n<p>Lascelles, who joined the club in 2014, was an unused substitute during Newcastle&#8217;s 2-1 defeat at home to Liverpool on Sunday.
