{"id":287279,"date":"2023-09-03T20:40:30","date_gmt":"2023-09-03T20:40:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportstoft.com\/?p=287279"},"modified":"2023-09-03T20:40:30","modified_gmt":"2023-09-03T20:40:30","slug":"bellingham-continues-fairytale-start-at-real-madrid-with-another-goal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportstoft.com\/soccer\/bellingham-continues-fairytale-start-at-real-madrid-with-another-goal\/","title":{"rendered":"Bellingham continues fairytale start at Real Madrid with another goal"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Jude Bellingham&#8217;s fairytale start to life at Real Madrid after his \u00a3113m move will be music to the ears of Gareth Southgate&#8230; with the England manager also backing Harry Kane to succeed at Bayern<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Jude Bellingham scored an injury-time winner as Real Madrid beat Getafe<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The 20-year-old has now scored in each of his four games for the Spanish giants<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>England will face Ukraine next weekend before a friendly against Scotland<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Jude Bellingham continued his fairytale start to life at Real Madrid by scoring a 95th-minute winner as the Spanish giants beat Getafe 2-1 at the Bernabeu.<\/p>\n<p>Bellingham pounced in the fifth minute of stoppage time as Carlo Ancelotti\u2019s men surged further clear at the top of La Liga.<\/p>\n<p>The 20-year-old Real superstar has now scored in each of the four games he has played since his dream \u00a388million switch from Borussia Dortmund.<\/p>\n<p>Bellingham\u2019s blistering start to life in Spain will also be music to the ears of England boss Gareth Southgate going into next weekend\u2019s Euro 2024 showdown with Ukraine in Poland followed by a friendly against Scotland in Glasgow.<\/p>\n<p>And just as pleasing for Southgate will be that skipper Harry Kane has finally got his move to Bayern Munich sorted, a year out from the Euros.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/02\/23\/74999049-0-image-a-20_1693692393437.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Jude Bellingham scored a late winner as Real Madrid came from behind to beat Getafe\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/02\/23\/74999161-0-image-a-21_1693692668906.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The midfielder&#8217;s form will come as a boost to Gareth Southgate ahead of the international break<\/p>\n<p>Southgate believes a new culture and country could yield small improvements in Kane, already England and Tottenham\u2019s greatest goalscorer.<\/p>\n<p>There is also the psychological value of winning a first career trophy, a much greater possibility at Bayern than Spurs, which would free Kane from a burden and might spur him to end England\u2019s 58-year wait for a senior men\u2019s tournament win.<\/p>\n<p>Southgate, who cites not playing abroad as a regret in his career, said: \u2018From a selfish England perspective it\u2019s good his future\u2019s settled now. Potentially that can be a distraction for players. But also it\u2019s good for him he\u2019s got to go and perform at a new club now. He\u2019s been at one club for so long.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018To have a change means you\u2019ve got to impress new team-mates, new staff, new fans, and also there\u2019s the life experience of having the breadth of adjusting to a new country. There\u2019s a lot of positives there.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I\u2019m sure for his own belief [winning a trophy] would be brilliant. I\u2019m not sure that he\u2019s going to become a better player but there might be other aspects of the mentality that this move will help him with. As you get older they\u2019re probably the only bits that you can improve on.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/02\/23\/74998959-0-image-a-22_1693692693249.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Southgate believes a new culture and country could yield small improvements in Harry Kane<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The big difference for Harry this year will be that there\u2019s going to be a lot of games where Bayern are very dominant and in the opposition third so there will be a lot more play for him in the box than he had in the last couple of seasons.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>This England squad includes four foreign-based players \u2014 Kane, Bellingham, Fikayo Tomori at AC Milan and Jordan Henderson at Al-Ettifaq \u2014 a far cry from the days of all-Premier League based squads and a throwback to the 1990s when Paul Gascoigne, David Platt and Des Walker played in Serie A.<\/p>\n<p>Southgate is lucky to find himself in charge of perhaps the best group of young England players in memory yet he sounds a note of caution.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It\u2019s important as a coach with young players that you get the right balance,\u2019 he says. \u2018Acknowledging that they\u2019re doing well but also driving them and insisting they keep improving.
