Listen to\u00a0It&#8217;s All Kicking Off, Mail Sport&#8217;s new podcast<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Wayne Rooney&#8217;s DC United were interested in both Jesse Lingard and Ravel Morrison this summer, according to a new report.<\/p>\n<p>Lingard is without a club after leaving Nottingham Forest and Morrison is also a free agent after playing last season with DC United.<\/p>\n<p>And according to the Washington Post, Lingard held talks with the club this summer while DC also wanted Morrison back.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Post, Lingard was seeking a guaranteed long-term contract, which seemed to have been prohibitive to signing him.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rooney cited salary cap issues in a recent press conference, and said the club was unlikely to add any free agents before MLS&#8217; but the club initially declined to bring him back for a second season and bought out his $850k contract this summer, according to the Post.<\/p>\n<p>The report also states that the club held talks with former Swansea and West Ham forward Andre Ayew.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/03\/15\/75011839-0-image-a-26_1693750557396.jpg\" height=\"444\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Ravel Morrison played 14 league games for DC United last year and scored two goals<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/03\/15\/75011945-0-image-a-27_1693750849325.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>DC United were also said to be interested in Ghana&#8217;s Andre Ayew, who last played for Forest<\/p>\n<p>Ayew was a teammate of Lingard&#8217;s at Forest last season.<\/p>\n<p>The ex-Manchester United man, who left the club in 2022, has recently hinted he&#8217;d be open to a Saudi Arabia move and was also seen training across from Inter Miami&#8217;s DRV PNK Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I&#8217;m considering all options,&#8217;
