Fans have hailed Sky Sports' "upgrade" after comparing Peter Drury's commentary of Arsenal vs Manchester United to Martin Tyler's.

Drury, who replaced Tyler as Sky's lead Premier League commentator over the summer, was behind the microphone as Mikel Arteta's side beat Erik ten Hag's Red Devils 3-1 on Super Sunday (September 3).

The 55-year-old made himself a huge hit with the Gunners faithful with his line after Declan Rice's stoppage-time strike. He exclaimed: "Rice!" The crowd noise drowned him out before he could be heard adding: "A massive moment. Declan Rice, a Gunner for life. He has beaten Manchester United!”

After Gabriel Jesus added a very late third before the final whistle, one fan posted a clip of their winning goal at home against United from last season. Tyler said: "Nketiah, flag has stayed down, and Arsenal have the lead with what, a minute plus added time to go."

They captioned the post: "Just listen to the difference in commentary between Drury and Martin Tyler from last season. Sky have MASSIVELY upgraded here."

That view was shared by others in the replies, with one commenting: "Glad I'm now finally getting value from Sky Sports with Drury. Tyler always sent me to sleep."

"Been saying this for years. I love Tyler, but he was well past his sell by date," added a second, with a third echoing: "Martin Tyler is a legend but his last three/four seasons were very painful."

A fourth Arsenal fan joked: "It’s like watching Laca for ages then watching Jesus, levels." And a fifth argued: "Peter Drury levels above Martin Tyler today. Passionate about each teams goals. No bias, just there to add to the television experience. Long may it continue."
