Mason Greenwood has shared a message to Getafe fans for the first time since completing a deadline day loan move from Manchester United.

The Spanish club will not be paying a fee for the English forward, but will cover a small contribution for his wages for the duration of the loan.

Greenwood hasn’t played competitive football since December 2021, after he was arrested in January 2022 on suspicion of a number of offences including attempted rape.

The 21-year-old was subsequently suspended by the club, however, in February the Crown Prosecution Service subsequently dropped the charges after key witnesses withdrew and new material came to light.

And now, after sealing a temporary move to Spain, the first images of Greenwood with the club’s colours have emerged on social media.

Meanwhile, Getafe boss Jose Bordalas recently defended the club’s decision to sign Greenwood and insisted that it was a ‘delicate situation’.

Asked about the decision to sign the one-cap England international after his side’s 2-1 league defeat at Real Madrid on Saturday, Bordalas told a press conference: ‘It is a very delicate situation to trivialise that issue.
