Manchester United are no closer to agreeing a new contract with goalkeeper Mary Earps as the club face a race against time to negotiate a new deal before next week’s transfer deadline.

Arsenal have had two bids, understood to be higher than the £100,000 record fee for a goalkeeper, rejected by United – who remain adamant Earps is not for sale.

The England No 1 was out of contract in June but United triggered an option to extend her deal by a year.

The club have made extending her stay at the club a priority but Mail Sport understands no progress has been made.

Earps has always been tight-lipped on her situation but admitted in May that her future was ‘a little bit uncertain’.

The goalkeeper was part of the United squad that travelled to Germany for a pre-season fixture with Bayern Munich.

But Earps and the rest of her England team-mates who played at the World Cup – Ella Toone and Katie Zelem – did not feature in Wednesday’s match, which United lost 3-2.

Mail Sport understands United want to sign OL Reign goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce, who could serve as a potential replacement for Earps, but have not yet been able to agree a fee with the American club.

The club’s stance remains Earps is going nowhere, regardless of who may come in.
