Mohamed Salah and Jadon Sancho will not be moving to Saudi Arabia before tonight’s deadline, according to reports. Both players have been linked with clubs in the Gulf state over the last few days, with the country’s transfer window staying open for longer than its English equivalent.

Salah was the subject of a failed bid from Al-Ittihad last week, with reports claiming that Liverpool turned down an offer in the region of £150million. Al-Ittihad have since been tipped to launch a renewed record-breaking approach for the Reds ace but will not be signing him before tonight’s deadline, according to The Athletic.

It means that Salah will be staying at Liverpool until at least January, at which point the situation could be revisited. There is still plenty of interest in the winger regarding a future move to Saudi Arabia and there are said to be good relations between all parties.

Liverpool could be tempted to cash in on Salah at the turn of the year, when the 31-year-old will only have 18 months left on his contract. However, they might decide to resist any approaches until the end of the season, with Salah likely to play a crucial role in their bid to return to the Premier League’s top four.

A transfer will not be happening for the foreseeable future, though, despite Steven Gerrard having reportedly been interested in bringing him to Al-Ettifaq.

Erik ten Hag explained that Sancho was fully fit to play against Arsenal but was omitted due to his displays in training, a claim that was refuted by the player himself with a bold statement on social media.

We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and to improve our understanding of you. I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week,” wrote Sancho.

“I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won’t go into, I’ve been a scapegoat for a long time which isn’t fair! All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team.”

Sancho could now face disciplinary action at United as a result of his outburst, with Ten Hag having already shown that he is willing to address moments of perceived indiscipline. Cristiano Ronaldo was previously suspended for one game after refusing to come on as a substitute before his contract was terminated following his controversial interview with Piers Morgan a month later.

Want the latest Premier League news as we publish it on Express Sport?
