Mario Balotelli saw his contract terminated by Swiss side Sion earlier this week but the mad Italian has already penned a new contract elsewhere.

Balotelli, 33, enjoyed a chaotic year in Switzerland as he continued to live his party and mental lifestyle. But the former Manchester City and Liverpool striker has re-signed for Turkish side Adana Demirspor on a deal until the end of the season with the option of a further year.

The journeyman played for the Turkish outfit during the 2021/22 season and scored 19 goals in 35 games for the Super Lig side, meaning his return is possibly the first time a club has ever been happy to bring him back.

Sion’s club president Christian Constantin, who previously received a 14-month ban back in 2017 after slapping a television pundit, spoke to Swiss outlet Le Nouvel Liste regarding Balo’s exit, he said:

“Everything was resolved in a very courteous manner with Mario. The document that we prepared is now in the hands of our lawyers who must complete it. Rather than talking about money issues, I would have preferred him to score the goals we hoped for. That said, it’s time to move on.”

Balotelli will be teaming up with a familiar Premier League face in Turkey where he will play alongside former Manchester United foe Nani, who joined in the summer after leaving Australian side Melbourne Victory.

The return to Turkey gives Balotelli the chance to rediscover his touch that made him so popular during his first spell. Giving him chance to bounce back after his time at Sion fell apart when he was forced to train alone at the end of his incident-marred stay.
