Lance Stroll is out of the Singapore Grand Prix following his high-impact crash in qualifying on Saturday.

The Aston Martin driver smashed up his car after losing control at 150mph before clipping the kerb and hitting a wall, but miraculously walked away from the wreckage. He has nonetheless been pulled from the race as a safety precaution after his team noted he was "still feeling the after-effects" of the crash.

In a statement released on Sunday morning, Aston Martin Team Principal Mike Krack said: "The whole team are relieved that Lance was able to step out of the car after yesterday’s accident – however, he is still feeling the after-effects of such a high-impact crash.

"Our priority now is that he makes a full and speedy recovery. Together, we have decided that he will sit out this evening’s race and instead focus fully on returning to the cockpit for next weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix," he added.

The impact of the crash completely tore off the front left wheel of Stroll's car which went flying across the track after the car briefly went airborne. Stroll radioed his team to tell them he was fine before lifting himself out of the smashed-up vehicle.

The Canadian driver was taken to the medical centre to be assessed, as per F1 regulations, while Q2 was delayed due to extensive repair work being carried out on the crash site. Stroll is currently ninth in the Drivers' Championship and is yet to secure a podium finish this season.

Championship leader Max Verstappen was shockingly eliminated in Q2 after being knocked out by Liam Lawson in the AlphaTauri, meaning that he'll start today's race down in 11th place. He made his frustrations perfectly clear on the team radio in third practice, slamming the Red Bull's issues as "f***ing unacceptable".
