for the Champions League this season, but Real Madrid boss warns &#8216;there are always surprises&#8217;<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Carlo Ancelotti spoke ahead of his side&#8217;s Champions League opener<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>He believes champions Manchester City are the team to beat in the competition\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Listen to the latest episode of Mail Sport&#8217;s podcast It&#8217;s All Kicking Off!<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti says Manchester City\u00a0should be considered favourites to win the Champions League once again.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>City claimed the famous trophy for the first time last season, beating Inter Milan in the final and completing a historic treble in he process.<\/p>\n<p>City dispatched of Ancelotti&#8217;s Madrid in the semi-finals, thrashing them 4-0 at the Etihad after a 1-1 draw in Madrid.<\/p>\n<p>And Ancelotti believes they are the team to beat as the tournament gets up and running again.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I think City are favourites,&#8217; Ancelotti told a press conference ahead of his side&#8217;s opening group game against Union Berlin on Wednesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/19\/15\/75599351-12536005-image-a-116_1695134473532.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Carlo Ancelotti says Manchester City should be considered Champions League favourites\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;They have a squad which allowed them to win it last year, which hasn&#8217;t changed much.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;There are always surprises, above all in the latter stages, but right now City could be considered favourites.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Madrid&#8217;s and Union Berlin are joined by Napoli and Braga in Group C.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Obviously (our target is) to get through the group stage, to go through the quarters, and to compete until the end,&#8217; Ancelotti added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/19\/15\/75599361-12536005-image-a-120_1695134627447.jpg\" height=\"450\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>City won the trophy for the first time last season and will be bidding to retain the trophy<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Making the last four, we can say that without too much pressure, that&#8217;s a target we can reach.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I see us as a team that will compete,&#8217;
