Phil Jones has announced his new career move after leaving Manchester United as a free agent in the summer.<\/p>\n
The 31-year-old revealed on social media on Tuesday that he has enrolled on a PFA global football sport directorship course and confirmed he was\u00a0currently doing his coaching badges.<\/p>\n
‘Start of a new journey,’ he wrote on social media as caption to a series of pictures showing him coaching United youth teams.<\/p>\n
‘Great to begin the global football sport directorship course with the PFA business school, learning new things about the game, whilst also continuing to push ahead with my A licence and badges at the club that gave me so much.<\/p>\n
‘Excited to get started.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jones left\u00a0United upon the expiry of his contract\u00a0earlier this summer after 12 years with the club.<\/span><\/p>\n The former England international has since been back at Carrington to watch training sessions involving United youth teams.<\/p>\n Sources close to United insist there are no plans for Jones to join the coaching staff on a permanent basis.<\/p>\n Former players regularly engage with the academy at Old Trafford, giving a great opportunity to the young players to work with experienced ex-United players.\u00a0<\/p>\n Jones remains a free agent and could sign for a new club outside of the transfer window.<\/p>\n The defender has been plagued by injuries throughout his career and made just 13 appearances in all competitions over the last three seasons, failing to play a single minute last term.<\/p>\n His last Premier League start came in April last year as United were trounced 4-0 at Anfield towards the end of Ralf Rangnick’s ill-fated interim spell at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n ‘It’s been very difficult, the last couple of years,’\u00a0Jones, who made 229 appearances for United and scored six goals, said after leaving the 20-time champions of England.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The former United defender revealed he has enrolled in a sports directorship course<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Jones was spotted watching United youth teams in action over the summer\u00a0<\/p>\n There’s no denying that.\u00a0<\/p>\n ‘There is no hiding away from that.<\/p>\n ‘My family have been absolutely instrumental in keeping me on the straight and narrow and keeping me focused, to try to get fit and try to play more.\u00a0<\/p>\n ‘And, you know, I’ve missed playing football.
