The president of a Colombian football team has been killed after he was shot dead in a drive-by shooting, second division club Tigres FC have announced. Edgar Paez was driving in a car with his daughter close to the club’s stadium,\u00a0following their 3-2 defeat to Atletico Cali on Saturday, when two unnamed men drove up beside them and shot him dead.<\/p>\n

Mr Paez was returning home by car with his daughter after the game in Bogota when he was killed by two men on a motorbike close to the stadium, according to reports in the local media, via Reuters.<\/p>\n

The 63-year-old was pronounced dead but his daughter managed to escape unharmed from the vehicle. No arrests have been made, but Colombian authorities have launched an investigation into the events that led to the killing.<\/p>\n

His club Tigres confirmed the death of their president in a heartfelt statement released on their social media account on X, formerly known as Twitter.<\/p>\n

“The Tigres family and the sporting community are devastated by this event,” the club said in a statement.<\/p>\n

“His commitment to the team and his dedication to the development of the sport in our region left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.”<\/p>\n
