An Arsenal fan was left cursing after his order for the new Gunners’ home shirt went wrong – leaving him with a kit he can’t wear to games.

One Gunners fan shared their despair as their order request for a new shirt went hilariously wrong. The Gooner requested to have the number 14 printed on the back, the same number made immortal by Thierry Henry in North London and currently worn by young striker Eddie Nketiah.

But the fan didn’t want to have a name on the back, when asked why, he replied: “Fav number throughout the years, but don’t quite love Nketiah enough to have him but I guess blank would’ve been better.” Despite not being Nketiah’s biggest fan, the England U21 international’s name would’ve gone much better than what he was delivered.

Revealing messages to the website he ordered the kit from, the Arsenal fan said he wanted: “Number 14. Leave the name blank, thank you,” and in something that could’ve easily come from a comedy sketch, the fan took a glum looking picture showing the printing which had ‘leave’ as the name above the number 14.

Fans were quick to joke about the unfortunate kit on Twitter, with one comment saying: “Ngl mate sorry but that’s kind of funny,” to which the unlucky fan replied: “I haven’t stopped laughing tbf, story to tell. It looks like I’m hating on Nketiah now.” He even tagged Eddie Nketiah on Twitter, saying: “I’d like to clarify, these are not my intentions bro.”

The cock-up comes at the same time that Nketiah has cemented himself as a core part of Mikel Arteta’s plans, seeing the 24-year-old start five of Arsenal’s six Premier League games so far this season, netting two goals in the opening three games.

But it seems as though his long-term place isn’t secure with Arsenal stepping up their interest to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney in January, despite him being suspended from football for eight months when he is eligible to return in January 2024.
