{"id":290108,"date":"2023-09-26T16:34:50","date_gmt":"2023-09-26T16:34:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportstoft.com\/?p=290108"},"modified":"2023-09-26T16:34:50","modified_gmt":"2023-09-26T16:34:50","slug":"arsenal-will-monitor-declan-rices-back-injury-closely","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportstoft.com\/soccer\/arsenal-will-monitor-declan-rices-back-injury-closely\/","title":{"rendered":"Arsenal will monitor Declan Rice&apos;s back injury closely"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Arsenal will monitor Declan Rice&#8217;s back injury closely which is set to rule him out of Carabao Cup clash with Brentford&#8230; but the Gunners are confident their \u00a3105m man will not be out of action for long<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The former West Ham training is yet to train after Sunday&#8217;s derby clash vs Spurs\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>But the club is hopeful that Rice will at least take part in next week&#8217;s City tie\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Mail Sport&#8217;s new WhatsApp Channel: Get the breaking news and exclusives here\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Arsenal will closely monitor Declan Rice\u2019s back injury as medics look to establish whether the problem is connected to other areas of his body.<\/p>\n<p>Rice was substituted at half-time of Sunday\u2019s north London Derby draw with Tottenham, complaining of discomfort in his back.<\/p>\n<p>Initial tests have provided Arsenal with confidence that Rice will not be a long-term absentee &#8211; although the pain in the England international\u2019s back is understood to have worsened so much on Sunday night that it was restricting his movement.<\/p>\n<p>Rice will be unavailable for Wednesday\u2019s Carabao Cup tie versus Brentford as he continues his recovery from the problem that has left him suffering back spasms.<\/p>\n<p>Moving forward, club medics are preparing to take closer inspection to ensure the back issue does not become a recurring problem during his first season at the club.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/26\/16\/75855309-12562771-image-m-93_1695743478285.jpg\" height=\"424\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Declan Rice is not expected to miss out on upcoming Premier League and European clashes<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/26\/16\/75855305-0-image-a-89_1695743257637.jpg\" height=\"406\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The \u00a3105million midfielder was substituted at half-time after picking up a back issue against Tottenham on Sunday<\/p>\n<p>Often, back problems can occur because of separate imbalances or constriction in other parts of the body.<\/p>\n<p>The Gunners aren\u2019t ruling out Rice &#8211; who has carried a niggling calf injury into the season &#8211; being available for Saturday\u2019s visit to Bournemouth and next week\u2019s Champions League clash in Lens.<\/p>\n<p>With that in mind there is hope the 24-year-old can play against champions Manchester City a week on Sunday if not before then.<\/p>\n<p>Rice has had an impeccable fitness record in recent seasons. He has played 171 games for West Ham and England during the previous three seasons.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale &#8211; who has lost his place in the starting XI for previous three matches &#8211;
