{"id":290289,"date":"2023-09-28T00:34:06","date_gmt":"2023-09-28T00:34:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportstoft.com\/?p=290289"},"modified":"2023-09-28T00:34:06","modified_gmt":"2023-09-28T00:34:06","slug":"andrew-flintoff-wanted-as-part-of-englands-coaching-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportstoft.com\/%d1%81ricket\/andrew-flintoff-wanted-as-part-of-englands-coaching-team\/","title":{"rendered":"Andrew Flintoff wanted as part of England&apos;s coaching team"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Andrew Flintoff wanted as part of England&#8217;s coaching team for five-Test tour to India in January after successful stint working with white-ball team<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Freddie Flintoff could be part of England&#8217;s coaching staff for tour to India\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>He was part of the backroom staff against New Zealand earlier this month\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Mail Sport&#8217;s new WhatsApp Channel: Get the breaking news and exclusives here<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Andrew Flintoff is set to be part of England&#8217;s coaching team for the five-Test tour to India at the beginning of 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 45-year-old was part of the backroom staff for England&#8217;s\u00a0first one-day international against New Zealand in Cardiff, and now could repeat that same role on the tour next year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>England&#8217;s white-ball coach Matthew Mott was impressed with Flintoff during his\u00a0unpaid consultancy role during the two recent series against New Zealand and Ireland, and confirmed that he could be part of the coaching set-up once again in the future.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to The Times,\u00a0England are now looking into a full time paid role for the former all-rounder, with Ben Stokes championing the move as he is a big fan of Flintoff.<\/p>\n<p>Asked on Tuesday if Flintoff would be part\u00a0series against West Indies in December, Mott said:\u00a0&#8216;Not sure. He&#8217;s definitely going to join us again in future though; we&#8217;ve loved having him around.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/28\/00\/75914453-0-image-a-128_1695857740058.jpg\" height=\"461\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Freddie Flintoff could return to the England coaching set-up for tour of India in January\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/28\/00\/75914627-12568903-image-a-137_1695857999326.jpg\" height=\"443\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Matthew Mott is keen to recruit Flintoff after the players enjoyed working with him this month\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;He&#8217;s revered, he&#8217;s got an aura about him. He&#8217;s very special and what he&#8217;s gone through recently, the humility he&#8217;s displayed and the life experiences he can share have been immense.
